Benfica 0 - 1 Man Utd
Revenge, sweet, sweet revenge!
It’s been an up and down start to the season for United. We started off so well and looked to be in great shape but the past two weeks have seen a slight change of fortune. A dissapointing home defeat to Arsenal followed by an unfortunate away draw at Reading.
With our now seemingly arch rivals Benfica awaiting, I couldn’t help but be slightly concerned. Those concerns were certainly justified in the first half, United couldn’t get to grips with the game and the tempo of Benfica’s play. We were lucky to go in at half time with the score at 0-0.
The second half however proved to be an improvement, Ronaldo and Saha had shown throughout to be our main threat and when they linked up in the 60th minute, Saha pulled the trigger to fire us infront with an excellent goal. From that point onward we settled into the game and finally had a decent amount of control.
Still a lot of room for improvement, particularly from Wayne Rooney who appears to be completely off form at present. With Solskjaer and Smith available, perhaps a change could do us good. Two games gone in the Champions League, and two wins to show for it. So far so good, but we certainly need to play better if we want to go all the way.
Last but not least, it’s not much consolation but with Arsenal and Man Utd beating Portugese opponents last night it could be seen as a bit of redemption after England’s World Cup exit at the hands of Portugal!

Nice to hear from you, I’ve heard so much about you! Nice to see you found your way onto my website too, I think Gaz has been trying his best to make sure the two of us don’t cross paths. He’s afraid I’ll let you in on some of his best kept secrets!
There’s no need to bad mouth my beloved Reds! You’re not making a very good first impression!

I told him that he’s going to have to introduce you at some point, he’s very reluctant though! We’re gonna have to have a big ol’ get together at some point, I’m harmless me, honest I am!
As for the football, I’ve always been a Red Devil since I was young!
I do keep one eye on the Wolves, but what the heck, my heart says United and who am I to argue?
