Man Utd 5 - 1 Fulham
Filed in Sport, August 20, 2006, 18:29
The Premiership is back!
Well it was officially back yesterday but as Man Utd hadn’t played, it didn’t really count.
Great opening weekend, a lot of great games and a perfect starter for Man U.
We showed some great play today against Fulham and we look like we’re back to our fluent best.
Trouble between Rooney and Ronaldo? Not from where I’m looking, they were great together.
Our only potential weak link today was John O’Shea, he can be prone to the odd error, or two. Bring Carrick into midfield alongside Scholes, or better yet bring in Hargraeves.
Silvestre looked a bit risky when he came on, the sooner Heinze recovers, the better.
Man Utd off to a winning start and looking in good form, I’m a happy man today!

Katie Melua - I Cried For You
Filed in Music, August 3, 2006, 9:13I was half asleep in bed the other night, flicking through the channels when I stumbled upon a song that really stood out.
At the time, I had no idea who it was or what it was. The video was rather strange, but interesting. The song itself seemed beautiful but sad.
I only had a few images from the music video in my mind the following morning, but with a help of a few friends I’ve been able to find out what it was. I think it’s a lovely song and the video is very good too.

Finding my feet…in the water
Filed in Fitness, August 1, 2006, 12:06Yup, it’s true. I’m 23 years old and I can’t swim.
To my credit though, I’ve decided to learn! As I go to the gym 3-4 times a week, I thought I’d start making use of the gorgeous pool they have. One of the personal trainers, Heidi, offers swimming lessons and I’ve had two so far.
The first was a bit of a nightmare, frustrated by not being able to do something that looks so simple.
The second however was what I call progress, Heidi has been teaching me the breaststroke and I think I’ve nearly cracked it! As a result I had loads of fun and it was so much more enjoyable now that I’m actually moving.
My next lesson is on Friday, watch out Olympics, here I come!
Superman Returns - Bring it on!
Filed in Movies & TV, Noteworthy, July 25, 2006, 15:02
This review has been a long time coming, but just to be sure I wanted to see the movie three times before I began writing.
I should start by stating that I am a lifelong Superman fan. As a child I would get home from school and put the Superman video on before anything else. It became so bad that the helicopter scene in Superman The Movie had become clearly worn out due to me constantly rewinding and playing that scene.
Being a huge fan, I had certain expectations for Superman Returns and it was always a practically perilous task to appease all of us fans.
1978’s Superman The Movie set the benchmark for Superhero movies and still holds the spot as my favourite movie of all time. With Richard Donner directing, Mario Puzo writing, John Williams composing and brilliant performances from the likes of Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman, Margot Kidder and Marlon Brando, the original movie is truly an underestimated feat of modern cinema.
So how does Superman’s big screen return live up to all that’s gone before it?

Progress at the Gym
Filed in Fitness, July 18, 2006, 10:46Some of you might remember that 3 months and 1 week ago, I said it was time to get back in shape!
I haven’t said much else on the matter since then, but don’t worry, I have been working on it!
My gym membership may be burning huge holes in my pockets, but it’s certainly burning a lot of calories too. Since joining the gym 3 months ago, my weight has gone from 13 stone to 12 stone!
I’m in much better shape and feel a whole lot fitter. To coincide with my workouts I’m also now eating a lot healthier, trying my best to have my 5 a day. Junk food has been kept to a bare minimal, and even whilst on holiday in Hvar I ordered salads at some of the restaurants! Yes, me, salad!
Test Drive Unlimited - Hands On
Filed in Gaming, July 16, 2006, 16:57
Thanks to the wonderful people over at Hexus.net, I was able to visit the Atari UK Headquarters last Thursday to spend the entire day playing the almost final version of Test Drive Unlimited.
After a bit of a Testing Drive down to London, thanks largely to roadworks on every motorway under the sun, I wasn’t sure if playing a driving game for the rest of the day was quite the ideal way to wind down. You could say I was wrong.
If I had to sum up the game in one word, that word would be immense.
World Cup heartbreak
Filed in Sport, July 1, 2006, 22:22
England are out of the World Cup.
I really thought we could go all the way this time and was so gutted when we lost, couldn’t help but cry!
We played well and even with 10 men we fought right until the end, making quite a few chances of our own. I’m undoubtedly a little bitter, but I hope the Portugese don’t go on to win it, their team is always out to con the referee!
Another major tournament, another penalty shootout, another sad exit.
